U18 Women's EuroBasket Final: France Overwhelmed by Spain
Spain secured their seventh gold medal in the U18 Women's category, an impressive feat only surpassed by the former Soviet Union's 17 titles. The Spanish team delivered a near-perfect performance of collective basketball, showcasing exceptional passing, shooting accuracy, and defensive energy.
In a stark contrast, the French team struggled significantly. Key players Thelma Leray, Cameron Kolissoko, Emma Broliron, Ange Thermoz-Lorcière, and Neyvaeh Marcin collectively missed all 24 of their shot attempts. The second half saw Spain continue their dominance. By the start of the second half, France had scored only half the points of their opponents (32-69). The game was a prolonged struggle for the French, marked by dribbling errors, shot clock violations, and airballs. By 8 minutes and 29 seconds remaining, they were down by 40 points (35-75), ultimately losing by 36 points at the final buzzer.
In the bronze medal match, Finland defeated Serbia with a score of 75-62.
